That foundation was strengthened through service during World War II, where he served as a B-24 tail gunner in the Pacific Theater. The discipline, courage, and work ethic forged during that time would later shape his approach to both life and construction.
JRJ Construction was built on a foundation of hard work, resilience, and a commitment to doing things the right way—principles that continue to guide the company today.
A Builder At Heart
Returning to His Roots
After the war, Joe returned to Texas and continued working in construction, eventually building a reputation for quality and dependability. His children, Randy and Melody, grew up around the work—spending time on job sites, learning firsthand what it meant to build something from the ground up.
Those early experiences created more than familiarity with construction—they instilled a mindset of ownership, responsibility, and pride in the work.
a Legacy IN THE MAKING
Laying the Foundation for the Future
In the early 1980s, that foundation led to the formation of Brown & Jones, a residential construction company.
Randy Jones and Melody Brown led the business together, each playing an equally critical role in its success. Randy focused on the field—managing construction and delivering the work—while Melody built the operational backbone of the company, ensuring the business was structured, compliant, and running with discipline behind the scenes.
Together, they created a balanced operation that combined craftsmanship with strong business fundamentals—setting the stage for long-term growth.
Carrying the Torch
As the company gained experience, it became clear that growth would require more than residential work alone.
Through years of hands-on building and learning, the family developed the skills, relationships, and confidence needed to take the next step—continuing the legacy of construction into a broader and more scalable future.
Forging A NEW PATH FORWARD
A Defining Decision
In 1988, during a conversation over Sunday lunch, the family made a pivotal decision—to move beyond residential construction and pursue commercial work.
This was more than a business shift. It was a strategic step toward building a company that could support multiple families, take on larger opportunities, and grow beyond its original scope.
That decision marked the formation of JRJ Construction as a commercial contractor and brought Joseph (Joe), Randy and Melody all together under one roof.
Setting THE PACE FOR THE FUTURE
Expanding the Vision
The company navigated economic downturns, the loss of major contracts, and significant internal transitions. Each season required adaptability, discipline, and a willingness to take ownership of the outcome.
Those experiences didn’t slow JRJ down—they refined it. The company became more focused, more resilient, and better equipped to manage complexity at scale.
