JRJ History

In 1938, as a boy of only twelve years old, Joseph R. Jones remembers going to school for the last time as he would be starting to work with his father the next day.  His dad was in construction laying rock and building houses in Parker and Palo Pinto Counties.  His heart for construction began at that moment.  After a short while doing this, Joe Jones enlisted in the Air Force and left for a time to be a B-24 Tail-Gunner in the military during World War II.  Upon returning, Joe R. Jones began work as a superintendent for Kneerhamm Construction, a commercial construction company based in Fort Worth.  His children, Randy Jones and Melody Brown, remember sitting in the car for hours while Joe would go check on sites even though he ‘said’ he would only be a minute.  Joe R. Jones continued in this capacity for some time as his family was raised.

Upon completion of his education, Randy Jones (the first President of JRJ Construction, Inc.) began working for a home builder continuing the legacy of construction as the third generation of the Jones Family and he would stay in this capacity for several years.  In time, Joe and his children, including his son-in-law David Brown said over Sunday lunch ‘Why can’t we do this construction ourselves?’ Thus, in 1984, after a great deal of deliberation and work, Brown & Jones Inc. was formed and the first home was started on Oakridge Dr. in Hudson Oaks, Texas.  The company grew exponentially having built up multiple developments in Weatherford and the surrounding area.  The company grew to a place where Joe and Randy were able to quit their full time jobs and begin to grow the company even further.  Joe brought over his commercial connections and expertise as the company began to expand into the commercial realm.  The first contracts with Lockheed Martin Aerospace and the Federal Aviation Administration were granted in 1988 and Joe R. Jones Construction was formed.  These contracts with both Lockheed and the FAA have led to hundreds of additional opportunities with other owners. JRJ Construction is a preferred General Contractor for Wal-Mart and numerous others across the country. The fourth generation of the Jones and Brown family is now involved in the success of Joe R. Jones Construction as it continues on into its’ fourth decade.
